Get The Most Out of Your Collapsible Water Bag

Here are some tips for using your collapsible hydration bladder safely and effectively on the trail:

Prior to first use, be sure to rinse bags thoroughly with mild soap and warm water. This removes any residues from manufacturing.  

For rolled up storage, remove as much air from the bag as possible and tightly roll up the empty bladder. This prevents damage from creasing.

Fill with clean, potable water. Do not store milk, juice or other liquids which can promote bacterial growth. 

Use water purification tablets or solution if filling from natural sources like lakes or streams. This prevents ingestion of bacteria, protozoa or viruses.

Occasionally use mild soap and warm water to wash bags, rinsing thoroughly. Allow to fully air dry before storing.

Backflush the bite valve regularly by sucking clean water through the reverse flow channel. This keeps the valve operating smoothly.  

Inspect for leaks before filling. Small punctures can be patched with repair tape.
